Write!
You write plays. iDiOM does new scripts. We should get together.
Below are specific projects for which we need writers …
48-hr Theater Festival (July) – 5 or 6 writers needed by June 25. Email jaz [at] idiomtheater [dot] com
New Works Fest (deadline Dec. 1) – we seek one-acts that have never been done before. 30-page max. Script deadline is Dec. 1, plays selected by Jan. 1, selected plays receive flawless debut performance in April. More precise submission guidelines are on the way, please check back.
Writers’ Round Table – a peer-review workshop to develop local writers and their works-in-progress. A session is in progress currently, and will continue until Jan. New writers may join at that time.
Perform!
The best thing to do here is get on our audition announcement email list. Tell mike[at]idiomtheater[dot]com you’d like to be on the list, and you will receive bulletins every time we need actors for something.
We are having general auditions on Sat-Sun June 26-27 from noon to 4. Email auditions[at]idiomtheater[dot]com and provide a one-hour window of availability. Mike will write you back with a 10-minute time slot. Please prepare a one-minute monologue (anything goes, although the theater tilts strongly toward the contemporary) and be ready to cold-read a brief scene with someone else. If you’re interested in the musical next spring, sing 30 seconds of anything you want (Happy Birthday would be fine).
The next show looking for actors is our 48-hr Theater Festival on July 2-3. If this sounds like fun to you, email jaz[at]idiomtheater[dot]com
Volunteer!
Door – On every performance night we benefit from volunteer help in our lobby. Door volunteers see that night’s performance for free. Contact karen[at]idiomtheater[dot]com to schedule a shift.
Set – Some productions may need extra hands for set building. If you’d like to help us build or paint or do whatever someday, contact karen[at]idiomtheater[dot]com and when the need arises we’ll contact you. Thanks.
Posters – Someone’s got to do it. Hang 25 posters, see a show for free. Contact karen[at]idiomtheater[dot]com.
